Mission dreams is organizing the beauty pageant event in association with the NGO Habitat for humanity India. Women who take part in pageants have utilized the platform, and their own platforms, to empower other women, others have also used pageants as a way to advance their careers. Mission Dreams is inspired from different international pageants that have changed the game altogether.
Mission Dreams believe that the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don’t want to, but because of what society has labelled women to be.”
“Wherever life plants you, bloom with grace!” says Neelam. Neelam Lengare hailing from the land of great warriors and rich cultural heritage Maharashtra is a girl who carries warmth and values from the village and exuberance from the city. She says, “My journey from being an engineering student to a buddying fashion designer has made me an amalgamation of technical skills and creative abilities. Dancing fascinates me from a very young age. It makes me feel alive. I feel deeply engaged when I turn myself to painting and sketching. Being from the rural background I see Mission Dreams as a great opportunity for me to inspire women in rural parts of India to dream big and break the cage of orthodox culture to extend their wings.
“Women are the most powerful beings in the world and that they should be given every opportunity, and that is what the society should be teaching these young girls, to take up space. Nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself.”
