Namrata Borikar has recently taken part in the Mission Dreams Beauty Pageant and is competing to win. A 28 year old girl residing in the city of dreams Mumbai.
Namrata talks about herself and her journey in an Interview, she says, ” I moved to Mumbai 4 years back for a job. I hail from the city of oranges Nagpur. I used to stay there with my parents and two younger siblings. I belong to a low income family and when I was fifteen I lost my father due to critical illness. He was the sole earner of our family. To support my mother and my siblings I had to quit school and start working along with my mother.”
Life has never been a cake walk for Namrata and she had to fight to strive for a simple life since her childhood. She had left no stones unturned to give a normal life to her mother and two siblings.
“When I was offered a job in Mumbai, I was thrilled and excited, as it would help us strengthen our financial situation and keep my siblings in school. Presently, I work for Rescue Foundation as a trainer for women and girls who have been rescued from prostitution.
Two years back, I lost my mother to cancer. I was heartbroken and clueless about the future of siblings and mine. At that time I believed that there was someone taking care of me. I was offered a residential position in my organization and they also provided shelter and education services to my sister. My brother decided to stay with our grandparents and fend for himself.”, she added.
She concluded by saying “Being a faithful and diligent staff of the organization, a year back the organization decided to support me for my further education and now I am completing my education through open schooling.
Given my conditions, it felt impossible for me to enter in a competition like this, but when I saw the advertisement on Instagram, it reminded me of my mother’s teachings to be courageous and dream big. This competition will encourage me to spread my wings and dream big, at the same time it will give me an opportunity to meet people with different experiences and that would enrich my knowledge about the world. Mission Dream is not only an opportunity but a great platform for me to share my story and inspire all those girls who believe that they can’t achieve their dreams because of financial constraints.”
It is true, given Namrata’s situation many of us would have either lost hopes on doing something on our own or would have relied on someone for our rescue. We believe that Mission Dreams will prove to be a wonderful platform for her to showcase her talent and prove her worth.
