Mrunal Thakur has opened up about working with Shahid Kapoor’s family. She was recently seen sharing the screen with his stepmom Supriya Pathak in Toofaan and will be seen with Shahid and his father Pankaj Kapoor in Jersey.
Mrunal Thakur made her big-screen debut with Sonai in 2018. In the span of three years, Mrunal has already worked with almost all the members of Shahid Kapoor’s family. After having appeared recently in Farhan Akhtar’s Toofaan alongside Supriya Pathak, she will be seen with Shahid Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur in Jersey, and has signed Pippa with Ishaan Khatter.
In a recent interview, Mrunal Thakur opened up about working with Shahid Kapoor and his family. She deemed working with all of them around the same time as ‘a beautiful coincidence’.
“The beautiful thing is that I feel like I have worked with the entire family. I have worked with Supriya Pathak ji in Toofaan, with Pankaj Kapur sir and Shahid in Jersey and now with Ishaan in Pippa. It’s just a beautiful coincidence,” she said, speaking with SpotboyE.
She also revealed that she has discussed Ishaan with Shahid. “When Shahid and I talk about Ishaan, we only speak about how talented that boy is. I can’t wait to work with him because the energy he imparts is amazing,” she said before adding, “They both are extremely different and so is their approach towards their work. I haven’t spent much time with Ishaan yet but we get along really well and I know that you will see that bonding in Pippa.”
Mrunal had wrapped Jersey with Shahid and Pankaj last year. Shooting had come to a halt owing to the Covid-19-induced lockdown. The shoot resumed in October. While the team managed to complete the schedule by the end of the year, Mrunal confessed she was scared to return to the sets.
Mrunal said, “I was scared but the joy of being on a movie set was great. We couldn’t stay or sit together and kept distances, wore PPE suits, sanitised often – it was a long process and back then, we didn’t know what measures we needed and what worked. It was all still new but today we know better! By the end of the schedule in Dehradun, we were all happy after working so hard.”
