“She wasn’t born herself , She found herself, Over a long and treacherous road, and the more treacherous the road became, The more of herself she found.” -Atticus
Neetu Singhi participated in the Virtual Beauty Pageant organized by Mission Dreams. Currently working as an Asst. Professor and Training & Placement officer, Dept. of Computer Applications at Dr BMN College, Mumbai. She has been graced by the title of Mrs. India Historic First Runner up and Mrs. Confident subtitle in the virtual event hosted by Mission Dreams.
Neetu Says, “The above quote pretty much describes what my life has been. DANCE, a five-letter word, but probably sums up thousands of sleepless nights of my life that I spent dreaming about it, the reason my eyes shine bright with a tiny tear lapping that shine when someone utters the word “passion”! Having come from a traditional Marwari family and a society where patriarchy is supposedly a “norm”, going behind my dream wasn’t easy and even tougher when the word dance came in. But there’s the thing about dreams I tell you, they go beyond words, beyond emotions, beyond the society’s YES’s and NO’s! They demand obeisance and a burning desire to DARE to dream them! Out of all the steps I danced on, the hardest one was to blindly trust who I AM, turn my CAN’T into CAN and dreams into plans. So, I put on my shoes and started with being a freelance dance and fashion show choreographer and choreographed various Intercollegiate Dance and Fashion shows.
She added, “But life hit rock bottom when one day while rehearsing I injured my lower back and was asked by my doctor to stop dancing. It wasn’t easy, it was beyond a hell for me, who choreographed so many dances, who’s rehearsal halls echoed with the lines “AND 5…6…7…8” to now, even struggling to walk one step. But I didn’t give up, after a surgery and 3 months of bed rest, I started walking and haven’t stopped ever since. To be honest, it didn’t matter how it all fell apart but how I put it back together. I became powerful, not because I wasn’t scared anymore but because I went on very strongly, despite the fear! So, I wore my confidence back but this time like a LOADED GUN! Today I hold two National Awards in Employment Enrichment Initiatives and Mentoring and recently, I won the title of “Mission Dreams Mrs. India” first runner up and also the subtitle of Mrs. Confident from the same. I also won India’s Top Super Model award in an event hosted by CMW banners.
Neetu recalls, “Participating in the virtual pageant hosted by Mission Dreams was like a dream come true for me. The experience of the entire event transformed me into a better version of myself. The organizing team is quite understanding, supportive and amiable. They patiently handled all our doubts and insecurities. The crown that recently graced my head and each gem embedded in it is the outcome of thousands of sleepless nights, tears, struggles and most importantly the strength that it took to go beyond their NO’s.
Neetu wants her journey to inspire every woman out there to come out of her shell, be financially independent and go beyond their stereotypes because dreams go beyond that! She was full of wounds, riddled with scars but she is still standing, and still dare to stand out of the crowd and dance. Life is short and definitely shorter to live on someone else’s laid down rules. She did wait for a “YES” from her family but didn’t wait just there. “I knew there’s a stage waiting for me, a spotlight to grace my moves as I dance my dance! I firmly believe that one’s come backs shall always be stronger than all those setbacks. I believe that all the women out there should learn to celebrate themselves and believe that THEY ARE POSSIBLE for I too believe, I am passionate, dignified, dedicated, invincible and most importantly I AM POSSIBLE!”, she added.
Mission Dreams salutes such warriors, warriors for life and dreams and is home for every such woman who wants to pursue her dreams.
