In conversation with BARNANA, Mission Dreams India Historic Runner up 2021

You will see many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated.

“Growing up in “Meghalaya, I was excited about what the future holds and what I’d become.”

Modeling is sometimes an undiscovered and unknown way, it might be something that you have dreamed about and to your surprise you are destined to that route. This is so true for Barnana, she is a model and she knows how to nail it. Barnana believes in uniqueness and the moment the camera turns on she is there to give that unique and perfect shot. Her styling secret is to go elegant yet comfortable.

Barnana loves to work hard to be the perfect one out there and this could be something that could really motivate and inspire other people. She hails from the Scotland of the East Shillong, Meghalaya. A sociology graduate who yearns to learn new things and meet new people. She loves spending time with her pets because she feels she can truly unload herself being with them.

MD: Can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to become a model?

Barnana: My journey began a long time ago, when the world we lived in wasn’t shut down and we were yet to see the world stand still. In 2016 I sparked a flare for the “Glam life” where I bagged the subtitle of ‘’Miss Beautiful Smile” at Miss Jewel Queen 2016 in Manipur. An invigorating moment of my life. Well, that doesn’t begin to explain it. I decided to pursue my life goals and narrow my focus by participating in several more pageants namely Miss Luitporia Northeast 2017 where I won the subtitle of “Miss Beautiful Smile” yet again. I was emboldened by the fact that my smile was taking me places. I participated in Miss Brahmaputra Northeast 2017 and won the title among 60 other contestants that came from all across North East. I took a break from pageantry and focused on print modelling by doing several shoots for designers, stores and makeup-artists. I thought the exposure and experience from that would gain me an upper hand to pursue my passion. That took me on a different path but after a break of 4 years my family, my friends and mentor insisted that it was time to get back into pageantry. That’s when I figured I had grown as an individual and had exhausted my reasons to not pursue what drives me. So, I did what I thought was the best thing for me, I registered myself for a total virtual National Beauty Pageant which is ‘’Mission Dreams Miss India Historic 2021’’.

MD: What goes through you mind when you are in front of the camera?
Barnana :
As everyone says “Do what you love” so here as I am doing what I love and I never feel like I am working or I never feel tired being in front of camera. I always like to see something new I like to do something new in short, I don’t like to repeat what I have done before, in anything whether it’s shopping, modeling anything so, only one thought that runs in my mind in front of camera is that I have to give the best short which is something very unique.

MD: What would you say is the most difficult thing about modeling?

Barnana: When you do something, you love then you don’t find anything difficult because even if you feel so you find a way to make it easier.

MD : What do you want to say about your future prospects and mission dreams?

Barnana: I think they both go hand in hand, I have thought about this a fair bit. I think I can learn how the industry works and how to give back to my roots from the way mission dreams works and while I learn, I can establish myself as some what of a prodigy to mission dreams. I think that would bring honor to mission dreams while exposing it’s values and beliefs while promoting my personal agenda as well. It may sound unappealing to most, but realizing potential and letting it take wings is what mission dreams is about. I stand firm with my belief. Well, My future goal, is to get into Tollywood, expand my horizons and increase my platform and hopefully entertain people in the best way possible

MD: What’s dose your beauty and fitness regimen look like?

Barnana: I don’t follow any diet for being fit but yes, I just prefer eating home food which makes me look so good and I use some home remedies for my skin.

MD: How would you best describe your personal style?
Barnana:
My personal style would be something which looks so elegant and comfortable at the same time.

MD: What advise would you give aspiring Indian models?

Barnana: Sign up with an agency that takes care of you and believes in you. You also need to take care of your mental and physical health because only then will you be able to live up the expectations that models have to bear. Be confident! I feel great after being associated with Mission Dreams.

MD: You signed up with Mission Dreams Media. How did your experience come about?

Barnana: I think that the agency plays a really important role in a models career specially for someone like me, someone who’s not from the industry. I didn’t know anyone. Once I signed up with Mission dreams, they trained me for fashion week, and groomed me.
